If you are in a fairway bunker, before you begin your backswing, lift your chest as this raises your centre of gravity and will encourage you to hit the ball first and this is crucial for this shot. Do not sway on your backswing as this will make timing the shot much harder. Commit to the shot and make a full follow through.
