Distance control
To improve your distance control when putting, ensure you line up and strike the ball from the same spot on the face each time, allowing greater consistency of strike and pace. Matching the weight and design of your putter with the speed and pace of the greens you play regularly are also key considerations for achieving distance control. For example, if you generally play on fast greens, you may prefer a putter with a softer insert.

With the promise of good weather for our second event of the year, Total Golf Club members gathered on the first tee at Merrist Wood Golf Club with high expectations.

A previous venue for the Club Championship, the course proved once again to be a stern challenge, with well positioned bunkers and streams running across the fairways and greens that were a little slow paced to say the least! However scoring was high and John Napier, playing off 8 handicap, took top honours with 36 Stableford points.

The second slot went to Mike Bailey (13), a regular contestant on the Total Golf Club Tour, with 35 points whilst Len Stubbs (18) took third place with 33 points.

And as usual there was more to play for on the day, with Bob Bagot taking nearest the pin prize, whilst John Napier capped off his success when he spanked a massive drive down the 15 th fairway to take Longest Drive.
